The blonde young man held his bear close, staring at the entrance to a house. His best friend had not been showing up to school for 3 weeks now and he was very worried. Had something happen to her? She didn't pick up any of his phone calls. With this thought in mind, he held Kumajiro even closer to his chest. "Who are you?" the bear asked, but Matthew had no time to waste on answering such a repetitive question. He knocked on the door, waiting patiently.
Seems the only one who doesn't see your beauty
Is the face in the mirror looking back at you
You walk around here thinking you're not pretty
But that's not true, cause I know you...
Your head perked up at hearing the knocks. Rushing toward the sink, you washed your arms of blood and stuck the razor in a medicine cabinet. Your mother said she'd be going out for the whole day. Why had she returned so quickly? Putting on a jacket, you winced a bit at how the fabric rubbed against your cuts. You ran downstairs and forced a smile, opening the door.
"O-oh, Matthew. What's up?"
Hold on, baby, you're losing it
The water's high, you're jumping into it
And letting go... and no one knows
That you cry, but you don't tell anyone
That you might not be the golden one
And you're tied together with a smile
But you're coming undone
Matthew stared at you for a moment. It was quite hot outside and you were wearing a jacket. Oh well, he couldn't really judge you because he was wearing a sweater. "H-Hello, ___. I just c-came to check up on you. I was worried" he mumbled, looking into your eyes. You scratched the back of your head nervously, debating whether you should let him in or not. After a while of silence, you opened the door wider and stepped inside. Matthew followed shyly.
"I felt really sick these past three weeks. Sorry I didn't return your calls and stuff" you muttered.
Matthew frowned just a bit, not believing you for one second. "___, what's really wrong?" he asked in a soft voice, closing the door and setting Kumajiro down. You tensed up and shook your head.
"What are you talking about? I'm fine"
"___...is it about school? You shouldn't stay sad about it. No one is going to pick on you anymore" he whispered, standing in front of you now. His usual shy tone was disappearing. He was reading you like an open book
Your smile faded and your eyes teared up. That day made you feel miserable. Instead of the usual bullying, people started to spread rumors about you. They said you were only using Matthew to break him in the end. They said you wanted him in bed because you were just desperate. They spoke to you like you were trash.
You didn't want to go back to school. It was like hell. But, you couldn't just abandon your best friend. He was all you had...and now he was going to leave you because of those stupid rumors. You trembled and buried your face in your hands. Tears slipped through your fingers and fell onto the hardwood floors. You didn't want to face him. You didn't want him to see the scars you engraved into your skin.
I guess it's true that love was all you wanted
Cause you're giving it away like it's extra change
Hoping it will end up in his pocket
But he leaves you out like a penny in the rain
Oh, cause it's not his price to pay
Not his price to pay...
He grabbed onto one of your wrists, pulling you into a hug. He hated seeing you this way. He wanted nothing more than to help you cheer up. Your head buried in his chest as you sobbed. What you didn't notice is that he had pulled down one of your sleeves. The many healing scars ran across your wrists and were still pink in color.
"_-___...why did you do this to yourself?"
You tensed up again, pulling yourself away, but the Canadian surprisingly held you in place. You gritted your teeth and looked down. "I...I didn't want you to look. I'm sorry....I'm sorry" you sobbed, shaking your head. He took his free hand and pulled your chin up, softly placing his lips on yours. Your eyes widened, but you had no time to react when he pulled away.
You're tied together with a smile
But you're coming undone... oh
With a smile, baby, baby
"Je t'aime, ___. Please don't do this anymore. You're beautiful and you don't deserve the pain you're making on yourself." he spoke, resting his forehead against yours. Your heart fluttered and the smile slowly returned to your lips. He had been your long time crush. You answered by kissing him again, closing your eyes in the process. After both pulling out for air, you hugged him tightly.
"Please don't leave me, Matthew."
"I won't, I p-promise, ___. Je t'aime."
"Je T'aime aussi!"
